Mandate and mission

Relativity of actions and results concerning management consulting.

The job of a consultant is to help companies develop their performance by using their Human Resources. Aware of this, and knowing that Human Resource methods and tools never produce absolute or definitive certainties, a consultant looks for the best match between his work and the client company ' s need.

Professionalism

Guaranteed resources, skills and professionalism

Management consultants only use proven techniques and tools that they are familiar with and work on. They commit their professional responsibility, but cannot commit themselves legally to an obligation of result. Consultants refuse all assignments that are not within their field of expertise or require more than the material resources at their disposal.

Each consultant must have all the training, experience and morality required to complete his assignment. Consultants keep their knowledge up to date and expand it through ongoing vocational training and research.

Professional secrecy

The files and information possessed by the consultant performing his/her functions are strictly protected by professional secrecy, as is the case in all professions held to this ethical rule. No information may be disclosed to third parties without the prior authorization of the client. Even in the absence of any express request, the consultant shall never reveal information that could bear prejudice either to the present or future situation of the persons involved or concerned by the assignment, or to the situation of the client company.

Likewise, the consultant agrees to keep secret all information concerning merlane, its internal workings and its other clients, and complies with its reserve obligations.

Clearness of the assignment

A management consultant only accepts assignments that are clearly defined with the client companies. In every case, a written proposal is made based on a preliminary requirement study. He helps collecting the information that is needed to professionally guide the company ' s choice in its decision to initiate and orient the assignment. Hired by his client for a specific assignment, a consultant acts strictly as an advisor to his client. He cannot be held responsible for the client, who alone makes the decisions and commits to the actions involved in the assignment.

Compensation and morality

Consultants only accept compensation from companies that are merlane client companies, never from individuals, or for any reason not provided in the collaboration contract. They refrain from all practices involving financial, moral or political pressures or maneuvers intended to obtain a contract. They only undertake an assignment after having clearly established the financial terms for working for the client.

Any consultant leaving merlane is covered by a three-year non-compete agreement concerning the company ' s clients.

Human rights

Aware of the seriousness of their role and the importance of their contribution to the effectiveness of a client company and the personal and professional development of the human resources of that company, management consultants are committed to strict observance of this ethics code for all assignments entrusted to them. More generally, they exercise their profession in accordance with the fundamental rights of human beings as stated in the "Universal Declaration of Human Rights". They shall comply with both the legislation in force in the country or countries in which they conduct their assignments, and with the internal rules of the client company.
